Farm Shop Team Leader

We are currently looking for a Team Leader in our Farm Shop.

Wylands Farm is part of a large company which has several sites in Kent and Sussex including Hop Farm and Sharnfold Farm.

Wylands Farm is widely regarded as one of the UK’s best angling centres and is the perfect location for fishing excursions set in 154 acres of woodlands just 2 miles from the historic town of Battle, with great facilities on site including a Farm shop, Lakeside Cafe, Tackle shop and 14 business units and 9 prestigious lakes set in the beautiful ‘1066’ countryside, Wylands caters for all anglers from the novice to the specimen hunter.

Job Description

We are looking for A Farm Shop Team Leader to work with our Farm Shop Manager in our popular, busy Farm Shop. We are open to passing trade, our local community, our campers and of course our anglers. We sell fresh and frozen meals, locally sourced Fruit & veg, homemade cakes, local preserves and chutneys, and so much more. Many of our products are sourced from local businesses in the Sussex and Kent areas and small sustainable British businesses. Part of the Farm Shop is the reception for our campers and Anglers

We are looking for a Farm Shop Team Leader to work on a part-time permanent basis working between 08:00 – 18:00 working 3 days a week plus holiday cover when needed. If you have previous experience running a similar retail establishment or have a flair for merchandising, have fantastic customer service skills, keen to source new local suppliers and consider yourself to be a team motivator, then we want to hear from you. This is a very exciting time to join our expanding company and to work in a friendly, inviting retail establishment set in a beautiful location.

This role has a flexible working pattern, with shifts throughout both the week and weekend. We are looking for someone who can start immediately. Due to the rural location of our Farm Shop, a driving licence and access to a car is recommended

Kitchen Cook/Chef

We are looking for a talented & passionate Kitchen Cook/Chef to work in our new Lakeside Café to start immediately.

This is a new but very popular and busy cafe and the successful candidate will be part of this exciting company expansion.

Experience of working in a similar fast paced kitchen is desirable. You should be someone who absolutely loves food and is imaginative, always looking to improve, and keeps on top of industry trends.

We are looking for someone to:

  • Lead a small kitchen team to deliver exceptional food
  • Drive innovation and create a culture of menu development whilst still delivering on the framework of honest and classic favourites including breakfasts, lunches, snacks, cakes etc
  • Build up a ‘Home Produced’ culture
  • Have a firm grip on the costs and be able to keep to both the staff and food budgets
  • Manage staff days off and holiday requests whist ensuring the business is operating 7 days a week
  • Work in collaboration with the Front Of House Manager and Area Manager
  • Ensure the kitchen continually meets the required food hygiene standards
  • Both guest and team experience will be at the heart of all you do. You’ll lead your team by example, keeping them involved and motivated; helping them feel empowered and supported, confident in providing a superb experience to our guests.

Ideally, you will have:

  • Experience of working in a busy kitchen using fresh ingredients
  • Qualifications in Catering and Food Hygiene
  • The ability to work calmly under pressure and lead others in the kitchen by example
  • The ability to plan and execute seasonal menu adjustments and daily/weekly specials
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Strong team management and training skills
  • Manage supplier ordering and maintain correct stock levels
  • Honesty, integrity and pride
  • Excellent references from previous employers.
